Rimsulfuron selectivity in three sweet pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) varieties and its control of Xanthium strumarium L. and Solanum nigrum L.

Alonso, S., J. A. Medina, J. Cavero, R. Gil, and C. Zaragoza. 1993. Rimsulfuron selectivity in three sweet pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) varieties and its control of Xanthium strumarium L. and Solanum nigrum L. Proceedings of the 1993 Congress of the Spanish Weed Science Society, Lugo, Spain, 1-3 December 1993. : 230-234.
In greenhouse trials, rimsulfuron was applied at 22.5 g/ha or as a slit application at 12.5 + 12.5 g (with a 7 day interval) to sweet peppers (Capsicum annuum) cv. Piquillo, Luesia and Buketen, and its effect on crop growth was evaluated. Although all the cultivars showed a general reduction in dry weight, Piquillo was found to be moderately tolerant. Rimsulfuron applied at the cotyledonary stage controlled X. strumarium; however, when applied at the 2- to 3-leaf stage rimsulfuron failed to control either X. strumarium or S. nigrum.
